The Formation Era: 0-401 years
In these years, not much is remembered. The wars from the next Eras destroyed most, if not all, the texts from this age. The clans today believe there were hundreds of small clans at first and they slowly began to merge together to form the current clans:
Soleil, often referred to as Sol, the Goddess of Nature and Freedom, gave her precious race of people a deep respect for the planet and the freedom to choose their own paths in life. For a time, the Pakaasu lived together peacefully with ideals that led to community-driven collaboration, helping one-another, and a style of government similar to that of a true people-led democracy. However, after a time, some came to want more and grew jealous of those who had more...

Now together, the nine generals of Mööduv split the Pakaasu into nine new clans. However, as the final hundred years saw, peace was not acceptable and only four clans managed to survive: the Juuou Clan led by Soturi, the Maaha Clan led by Luksus, the Kiiai Clan led by Perinne, and the Geefe Clan led by Rikas. The Isles became permanently split, and the remaining four clans found a tentative peace...
The First War Era: 402-429 years
While before the clans used to work together and trade their goods, something in all the clans snapped after a while. War took over the Isles. Every single war and battle seemed senseless. There were times where clans would work together to try and crush their foes. Then, the clans would betray one another to get an upper hand. Despite how good everyone's armies were, the war didn't seem like an end was coming:
The Juuou clan quickly picked up on how endless the war seemed and based their entire culture around war and fighting. They trained every single Pakaasu to learn to fight and protect. Each hundred years, the training became more intense and efficient. War and fighting became their life. They lost all sense of fun and wonder over the years. Those who dared to think of anything besides war were shunned and forced to be on the front lines. Any who were weak and unable to fight were made subservient to those who could fight - doting on their every whim and need in fear of being used as training bait. The Juuou clan developed a series of intense and effective fighting styles for close combat, some for distance, and excel in the creation and use of archaic weapons like throwing axes, bows and arrows, daggers and swords, other axes, hot iron picks, and more. They are fast and agile making the use of armor a thing of the past (tho some still use it). Everyone in the Juuou clan has a place as a warrior or serving a warrior - no Pakaasu is wasted. If you can breath you can fight or serve. There is no excuse for idleness. Death is also celebrated! A fighter's death is a tremendous occasion. Even those who serve warriors well their whole lives are celebrated in death - even slaves play an important role! No death is overlooked and all deaths are researched to determine the type of celebration the deceased will have. And missing Pakaasu, no matter their battle worth, are searched for until a body is found - EVERYONE HAS PURPOSE.
The Maaha clan slowly lost interest in the world of war and began to focus on making life perfect for their Pakaasu, despite the short lives they might live. The first hundred years brought them wealth and luxury. Every Pakaasu enjoyed all the luxury in the world. Over the almost five hundred years, the quality of life slowly decreased. The clans saw them as an easy target and would attack Maaha for their resources. This led to another influx of warriors coming to their aid - Maaha clan members who would train in defiance of their clan's traditions in order to protect their clan. These 'mercenaries' as they came to be called could and would find work all over, helping to protect families and businesses alike in trade for room and board, food, clothing, even shiny things, etc. This helped the Maaha clan surge forward again as a force in the Isles without being directly violent but also protecting themselves from those who are directly violent. Death here is mourned and those who pass on have stories told of them and are revered, given a proper burial with their closest and most prized possessions.
The Kiiai became obsessed with tradition during the wars. Doing certain rituals before fights meant victory for them. They believed their Isles were blessing them with victories by doing these rituals. Soon, these rituals became the core of the Kiiai's life. They worked hard on preserving history of their ancestors and working up their defenses. In the first two hundred years of the war, they were focused on attacking. They would steal all the resources they could from other clans. In the later half of the years, the Kiiai worked on being more defensive and shut off to the rest of the clans. Beautiful barriers and walls were built, building reinforced, and more to maintain themselves under attack. As defensive techniques and distance weapons were improved upon, they became more ostentatious and glorious. Soon battle itself became its own ritual. Everything has its time and place, and the Kiiai clan can turn anything into a ritual or time for a ritual. Even death is cause for quite a few rituals!
The Geefe struggled to find their identity and to protect themselves in the war. The first hundred years, they attempted to be warriors like the Juuou. The next fifty years they worked on being defensive. However, their numbers were dwindling to the point of extinction. Wising up, a few Pakaasu began to use their words and resources to influence the other clans and protect their people. It quickly developed into a clan where the rich ruled over the poor and used them for their gain. The wealthy were eager to manipulate their people and the other's clans to their bidding. Anything to cause a stir or redirect attention to where they want it, the Geefe clan began to excel at the delicate nuances of body language and persuasion. And the richer the clan member, they more they are taught, the better at it they are, and the more opportunities they have to use their talents! Death in the Geefe clan ranges from a small party to celebrate the life of a less-then noble to a grand celebration outlying the many great deeds of a noble.
In the last few years of the war, each clan began to separate from the battles. The numbers of the Pakaasu were low and nearing the point of total destruction of all the Pakaasu. A pseudo peace treaty was signed in 870 by the current clan leaders, and the clans ceased their wars. New laws were implemented in all the clans tho the Juuou clan still does raids from time to time, the Maaha clan still employs mercenaries against these raids, the Kiiai clan still builds up their islands in preparation to defend themselves, and the Geefe clan still practices the arts of manipulation. Very rarely (but it happens) do clan members cross into the territories of other clans simply because of the treaty and the new laws...
The Eternal War Era: 430-870 years
Now the wars were finished, the Pakaasu attempted to sail across the sea:
The great ship race began! The four clans each had big plans for sailing out to sea. The two goals they all shared were to find a new home for their respective clan away from the other clans and the possibility of renewed war and to find the Pakkeli. On the one hand, despite the treaty of 870, the tension was fierce between the clans and all knew it was just a matter of time before someone 'slipped up.' On the other hand, Pakkeli sightings piqued the curiosity of the Pakaasu, and they wanted to find them...
The Juuou clan immediately got left behind in the dust. Their ship-making was stalled as the leaders were obsessed with outfitting their ships with giant lances as weapons and as tools for fishing. Just ahead of them was the Geefe clan who seemed to be able to plan their ships excellently, but building went excruciatingly slow. Next up was the Maaha clan with the bulk of the resources... and infighting on how to best use the resources. While they made better headway building, they did not have the first ship... The Kiiai clan had the first ship as they had the most skill in building with the resources they had at hand.
Setting out to sea was another thing entirely. The Kiiai were the first to set sail, and they managed the most days at sea before they would return home, sure they were sailing away from the Isles yet always arriving back at the Isles. Ships from all four clans disappeared: just vanished, never to be heard from again. After a while, Pakaasu from all the clans refused to set sail to sea anymore, and most ships were left to rot. Those not left to rot are sailed in the local coastal waters, and usually by the Maaha clan or Kiiai clan, in search of new resources or in defense of their islands. However, no new ships are in production.
The Renewal Era: 871- present day
In these times, the Pakaasu clans have been very dormant. They all have been working on their own clans and trying to make life better for everyone. Occasionally, the Juuou clan would attack others but no major wars have broke out:
In 958, a group of Pakkeli formally visited the Isles and interacted with the Pakkeli. They traveled to each Isle to learn about the Pakaasu and how to communicate with them. All the clans were wary of the Pakkeli and did not know how to feel about their arrival. Within a few months, the Pakkeli left. Each of the clans were very cautious of the ideas and things the Pakkeli brought to them all...
Then the unthinkable happened. Maa, one of the Juuou clan's finest warriors, came up missing! Instantly, the Juuou blamed the other Pakaasu and began attacking the other clans ferociously for the next year. Once the Juuou clan realized the Pakkeli took Maa, they redirected their rage. Since then, they have been training non-stop. The other clans also began to work on their military and their defenses, stepping up offensive measures in most of the clans instead of just defensive techniques. The long time of peace may be ending very soon for the Pakaasu. Many are fearing that this next war will be the last... But thankfully, the war was not to be. The Pakkeli rectified their mistake tho the Juuou clan still holds an eternal grudge...
Later in the year 960, a new species began coming to life and mysterious islands formed between Kotiin and the Isles. Now, many Pakkeli are able to visit the Isles and Kotiin is being flooded by Pakaasu. No one knows what will happen now that the three species can interact...
